We celebrate the beauty and diversity of our region’s gardens and the creativity of talented artists. Get ready to explore the wonderful Bay of Plenty visit your choice of over 60 beautiful gardens and meet more than 100 magnificent artists. Our artists will display their works in gardens and galleries around Tauranga and the Western Bay of Plenty.

You will also experience fascinating landscape gardens, exhibitors, live music, tasty food and beverages, and the amazing Festival Gallery at our “Bloom in the Bay” festival hub.

The Gardener

The NZ Garden & Art Festival Trust is a charity and was formed in 2001 by a talented and forward-thinking group who were passionate about gardens, and art and promoting the beautiful Bay of Plenty in a philanthropic way.

Our festival will showcase an exciting mix of local, national and international artists. The artists will display a wide range of mediums such as sculpture, jewellery, ceramics and paintings with a myriad of inspirational content.

  • Accommodation
    When in Tauranga for the festival, make sure you make the most of luxurious accommodation by booking into the festival’s official accommodation provider Trinity Wharf, Tauranga’s premium over-water hotel, conference venue and restaurant conveniently situated on the cusp of the Tauranga CBD.
  • Price
    The Garden and Art Trail is accessible to festival pass holders. Two ticket types will be available. A one-day ticket will get you to all gardens on the trail For one day only – you can choose that day, but once you are on the trail, this ticket will become invalid for any other day. A multi-day festival pass will allow you to see all gardens on all days of the festival. There’s the chance to organise a solid day of whistle-stop viewing or enjoy a more leisurely journey around the gardens over multiple days. Access to Bloom in the Bay, our festival hub is free with a festival pass.
  • Food available?
    Bloom in the Bay is the place where you can pop in to grab a coffee or something to eat while you are planning your daily garden and art trail route, incorporate a visit between garden and art stops or organise your daily schedule to make sure you catch one of our inspirational speakers. There will be garden and art displays, live entertainment, delicious food and a garden bar where you can enjoy refreshing cold drinks. Another Long Lunch is planned for our 2024 Festival. An event not to be missed!
  • Plants/Sales
    Adding to the offering are art stops along the way. In some cases, there is the opportunity to see artists working from their own studios. Matching artists with gardens is what makes this garden trail unique. Local and national artists are displaying a wide variety of artwork in several different mediums.
