A large country garden in a bush setting featuring ponds and streams enhanced with massed plantings of rhododendrons, azaleas, maples, hostas, irises, and azalea mollises. A short bush walk beside a sparkling stream that meanders through stunning natives adds particular interest to this unique garden.
A property with Native Bush such as this, we believe, should be shared and with this, in mind, we are pleased to open the garden.
Arriving in Taupo as 2 school teachers in1959.our interest in gardening became a passion when we bought a little plant shop, later building our own which became 2 businesses-Taupo Garden Centre and Taupo Florist. During this time we moved and developed a nursery and new garden which at times was opened to the public. After selling the shop and John working for 'Duncan and Davies for 11 years, we reluctantly left our home and garden and moved to Tauranga Dec.2004. We took on a considerable challenge namely low cloud, dampness, cold and clay not to mention the opossums, rabbits, rosellas, pukekos and sheep which managed to push their way through the fences all of which seemed hell-bent on destroying what was trying to achieve. From that day on we have not stopped planting but sadly after John's passing in 2014, Judy now keeps the dream alive on her own.
We are happy to cater to many options so your big day is perfect. The possibilities for your ceremony and photos are endless on our extensive grounds, which means you can stay with your guests rather than go away for photos. You are welcome to provide hors d'oeuvres and bubbly for your guests during this time. We also have the ideal area for a marquee if you wish to hold your reception at Mayward. Please call me and we can discuss all your ideas and options.
