A plant enthusiast’s garden, it is still being developed but has many interesting and rare plants that attract interest. The sweeping valley views from the garden and the sound of the river extend the garden towards the forest park at the head of the valley.

Large lawn areas on several levels are connected by many stone-walled paths that allow plants to be viewed at different levels. A large collection of acers is complemented by the underplanting of hostas, irises and rhododendrons. Dams are surrounded by water plants with bog areas being developed.

Spring and summer are the best times to visit but this is a garden that provides interest all year. Don’t forget to leave room in the boot of your car for those plants you won’t be able to resist from the nursery.

John is an ex-school teacher and Trish a mum who has a great interest in plants. They have developed a small nursery that has a reputation for producing an interesting range of plants. They are members of IPPS and the iris society and are avid plant collectors. The garden has an interesting collection of acers with about 85 varieties of palmatum dissectum in the garden.  

We have created 5 acres of open garden between our house and the Kauaeranga River.

We regularly cater for weddings. We can put couples in touch with celebrants and caterers. We prefer only to have the ceremony and drinks in the garden and can arrange the use of the local hall across the road.
