The Central Otago climate (frost, drought, heat) creates unique gardens and offers the opportunity to discover gardeners' strategies for these conditions. 

The surprising variety of gardens is the WOW of our tours, we visit all styles of gardens.

Tours run daily from October 2024 to April 2025, a must-do activity in Wanaka.

Each tour visits 1, 2, 3 or 4 very different properties, lasting 2 to 5 hours and costing $95 to $170 per person, with discounts from the second participant. Pricing schedule here.

Long-term Wanaka resident well-known for her community involvement, Florence Micoud has a long experience and knowledge of gardening. For seven years, she worked as an information manager for a French leading organic gardening company, producing a substantial magazine, publishing books and operating the visitor centre Terre Vivante. Florence led many guided tours at this centre featuring stunning gardens, eco-building, renewable energy and sustainable opportunities. 

Florence has enjoyed gardening since childhood, with her Dad showing her how to care for plants and her Mum teaching her how to use them. Over the years, she’s created several veggie gardens in the various properties she has lived in with her family.

Her deep interest in and love for nature, trees, birds and plants all converge in gardens. The idea of a garden tour for locals and visitors came from the deep joy of sharing she experienced in visiting stunning local gardens in Wanaka.

All gardens vary in size and style, from small urban sections to 2.5 hectares of lifestyle property.

All guided garden tours are carbon net zero  (non-certified)

We can offer customized tours for groups of 3 participants or more (eg. flat terrain, vegetable focus, tree focus, etc.) Call Florence to discuss.

For groups larger than 7 persons, we can arrange two groups in the same gardens on the same day, with garden-related activities and itinerary suggestions for the other group. A discount of 15% applies to all participants.
