Overview

Backyards - Friday 31 October - Sunday 9 November, Builds and Farms - 10 November - 16 November

Aotearoa’s longest-running sustainable garden trail, 10 days of visiting more than 25 properties and talking with gardeners and DIY enthusiasts, followed by a week of touring around innovative and sustainable buildings and farms.

The Backyard Trail invites you to connect with gardeners who grow healthy, affordable backyards, keeping the environment in mind.  We’re Aotearoa’s longest-running sustainable gardens trail  — check out what makes us great!

The Gardener

Our gardeners are a clever bunch, making use of all sorts of materials to keep costs down and divert useful stuff from landfills. On the Backyard Trail, you can see bedframes turned into climbing structures, clotheslines as supporting cloches, and find far more than one use for old tyres. Source all sorts of tips and tricks for making the most of what you already have!

Other Facilities

The Farms Trail invites you to get your feet dirty and step alongside the gumboots of our local farmers and commercial growers. Join us to experience the diverse journeys shaping Taranaki’s future-focused agriculture industry.

The Builds Trail invites you to connect with owners and experts who have decided to build with the environment in mind.
